6-Jun 1969, Royal Albert Hall, London, England
50 min, SBD, B+/B
Uncle Meat, Drum Duet, Some Ballet Music, Improvisation, Big Leg Emma, The String Quartet Intro, Interlude

From this legendary show, we have this 50 min board - unfortunately it's a rather bad board, even on this low-gen recording. SA/FA doesn't look very good, but as should be obvious from the amount of hiss, no NR has been applied.

01 Uncle Meat (3:23)
02 Drum Duet (1:37)
03 Some Ballet Music (4:57)
04 Improvisation (6:53)
05 Big Leg Emma (2:35)

NEW: Frank Zappa live in New York 1968 - 1CD - August 3

This tape has been chopped-up and circulated in uncountable combinations and permutations, with uncountable date/location labels. In short: the recording consists of 4 segments, about 15 min each. I have encountered segment 1, 3 and 4 as separate entities, segment 1 + 2 together, and 1 + 2 + 4 together. With the surfacing of this version, which can be traced right back to the source, it seems we can finally assume that they all belong together, and that this is the correct sequencing - something  I've always suspected, but never found evidence for.

1968 08 03 - Wollman Rink, Central Park, New York, NY
Late Show: 61 min, Stage, A-
Jazz Rock Heavily Influenced By Al Kooper (flute solo), Help I'm A Rock, Baby Love, Big Leg Emma, Holiday In Berlin, Trouble Every Day, Orange County Lumber Truck Medley

Setlist:
01 Jazz Rock Heavily Influenced By Al Kooper (4:24)
02 Help I'm A Rock > Transylvania Boogie (12:35)
03 Baby Love (0:56)
04 Big Leg Emma (3:37)
05 Holiday In Berlin (10:15)
06 Trouble Every Day (11:45)
07 Orange County Lumber Truck Medley (17:21)

Not only is this version the "most all-encompassing" I've heard, but also by far the best sounding. The high-end might be a little harsh, but with the clarity and stereo sound here, this has quickly become one of my favorite 1960s tapes.

NEW: Frank Zappa live in Ann Arbor 1967 - 1CD - December 3

Frank Zappa
3 Dec 1967, Fifth Dimension, Ann Arbor, MI (Grp.Eq.Jff.archive-Musigny23)

This is an alternate source to:
1967 12 03 Ann Arbor 44.10 SBD (WIU2B-LudzNL-fl) speed corrected

After careful examination of source material and the recordings themselves it's been determined that this is the complete version of what is available of this performance. Big Leg Emma amd King Kong, widely booted and traded as the first two songs are thought to be from 1969 08 08. They are not from this date and place.

At this time it is believed that this is most likely the correct date and place of this recording, there remains a possibility that it's not.

track list:
01 - (in progress)Improv >             01:13.24
02 - America Drinks And Goes Home >    02:06.03
03 - Hungry Freaks Daddy >             03:40.08
04 - King Kong >                       15:23.30
05 - Status Back Baby (cuts)           00:52.07

23:14.73 minutes sdbd (sort of)

The Mothers Of Invention(the presumed lineup on this):
FZ--guitar and vocals
Ray Collins--vocals and tambourine
Don Preston--keyboards
Ian Underwood--keyboards and woodwinds
Bunk Gardner--woodwinds
Motorhead--baritone sax
Roy Estrada--bass and vocals
Jimmy Carl Black--drums
Art Tripp--drums

In the late fall Billy Mundi leaves the band and his place is taken by Art Tripp, who is thought to be playing on this.
